May the world burst into bloom

Summer solstice is the time when people wish to be away from the city — immersed in meadows. Latvians have always believed that the herbs picked during Midsummer have healing powers. That's why this Midsummer we wanted to bring the feeling of a meadow to Riga by wrapping the city in a symbolic flower crown with the help of outdoor posters. In Latvian tradition, the solstice is a time when mythical worlds mix — when light alternates with darkness, the masculine with the feminine and the good with the evil, and the flower crown becomes our guardian. That's why we created a symbolic circle of protection in which to wrap all the people of Riga.

In order to implement this idea, a special photo session was created by artist Julija Sinka.

The final photographs used in the outdoor posters were created using original techniques, creating multi-layered compositions from plants, visually referring to the moment of midsummer between darkness and light.
