Just don't surrender your roots

During the month of national holidays, Riga told the stories of Latvian national flags from various private and historical sources in combination with lines of poetry of the politically repressed poet Knuts Skujenieks. Next to the lines of poetry, about inner freedom which must be maintained by oneself and nurtured regardless of external circumstances, stories are collected about the guardians of our flag – people who, during the years of captivity, hid, kept, dismantled, and took the Latvian flag with them in exile, thus also becoming guardians of Latvia. Complementing each other, these two stories form a metaphorical braid of freedom.
